(23 February 2015) \u2013Cirrus Aircraft today announced the 2015 Generation 5 SR22 Special Edition: Australis. Thoughtfully designed and configured for the Australian market, the Australis is tailored specifically to the climate, conditions and remote area flight operations that pilots in Australia regularly experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Cirrus we take pride in first listening to our customers and then incorporating that input and feedback into the design of the airplane. When we do, we don&#8217;t just deliver an airplane, but instead a lasting aviation experience that exceeds our owners\u2019 and operators\u2019 expectations,\u201d said Todd Simmons, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer of Cirrus Aircraft. \u201cAustralis is the latest example of our unique approach. This Special Edition aircraft provides Australian aviators with an exclusive aircraft solution that is fine-tuned to their operating environment and just stunning on the apron.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Australis has been precisely configured and designed with features specific to the needs of the Australian pilot. In addition to the trademark\u00a0<a title=\"Airframe Parachute\" href=\"\/innovation\/airframe-parachute\/\">Cirrus Airframe Parachute System<\/a>\u2122 (CAPS\u2122), air conditioning and specially treated UV windows are standard on every Australis. The UV protection has been shown to reduce solar energy by up to 30 percent, keeping the cabin cooler on the ramp and protecting both the occupants and interior surfaces from UV exposure. Standard accessories include a 4-person survival bag, personal locator beacon, claw tie-down system and a two-year AVPLAN subscription.<\/p>\n<p>Aesthetically, the Australis features a bespoke interior and exterior design available in two very distinctive trim levels. Australis Premium\u2122 stands apart with a custom designed two-tone paint exterior and an array of premium accent color options that aim to capture the hues of Australia. The Australis Premium interior includes bolstered leather seats with contrast stitching, carbon fiber accents on the instrument panel and polished lights and vents throughout the cabin. The notable Southern Cross of the Australian flag has been artfully branded into the aircraft interior that extends to the exterior paint scheme, and is sure to grab attention wherever the aircraft is flown or parked.<\/p>\n<p>The Special Edition Australis will make its debut at this year\u2019s Australian International Airshow and Aerospace and Defense Exposition \u2013 AVALON, in Geelong, Australia, from 24 February through 1 March 2015.
