At Cirrus, we believe in modernizing the learn to fly process. If you’ve ever dreamed of taking to the skies, we’re here to help make that dream a reality. Through the Cirrus Private Pilot Program (PPP), we want to introduce you to the joy of learning to fly and the freedom of personal aviation.
All Cirrus aircraft are designed for single-pilot operation, so as a Cirrus owner, you can take the controls and explore the world from a whole new perspective. Whether you're looking for freedom, adventure, or just a new hobby, we're excited to guide you on this journey.
Who Qualifies?
You don’t need to be a seasoned pilot to get started. Our Cirrus Private Pilot Program is available to anyone with a passion for flying, whether you’re just starting or have some flight experience. As long as you’re at least 16 years old and have a valid driver’s license, you’re ready to begin your adventure. All you need is a desire to learn!
What Does the Private Pilot Program Include?
The Cirrus Private Pilot Program features 11 comprehensive modules, each designed to take you step-by-step through the essential aspects of becoming a private pilot. These modules consist of 40 engaging lessons that cover everything from foundational pre-study materials to in-depth ground instruction and flight training videos. Each lesson is designed to build your skills progressively, ensuring a deep understanding of both theoretical and practical flying concepts.
The program is more than just traditional flight instruction. You'll engage with performance assessments and quizzes throughout, allowing you to track your progress and reinforce your learning. These interactive elements make the program both captivating and effective, keeping you motivated and focused as you advance.
What sets this program apart is its highly specialized content. You’ll learn specific flight training techniques unique to flying a Cirrus aircraft, working closely with a dedicated Cirrus Training Center (CTC) and Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot (CSIP). The study materials are tailored by Cirrus flight training experts, ensuring you receive the most up-to-date and Cirrus-specific knowledge throughout your training.
This well-structured curriculum ensures that every step of your learning journey, from pre-flight preparation to hands-on training, is supported by expert guidance and top-tier educational resources.
Dedicated Cirrus Flight Instructors
A key advantage of the Cirrus Private Pilot Program is the personalized instruction you’ll receive from highly trained Cirrus Flight Instructors. These instructors are part of the Cirrus Training Center (CTC) network and hold the prestigious title of Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilots (CSIP).
These instructors are Cirrus aircraft experts and have undergone specialized training to ensure they provide consistent, high-quality instruction. As you progress through the program, your CSIP instructor will offer one-on-one guidance tailored to your learning pace and goals. Their in-depth knowledge of the Cirrus platform ensures that you not only become proficient as a pilot but also fully understand how to operate Cirrus' advanced aircraft systems, including their safety technologies like the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System® (CAPS®).
What Else is Required?
In addition to the Private Pilot Program, there are a few requirements to complete your PPL. You’ll need to obtain a medical certificate from an authorized aviation medical examiner, pass a written exam and complete ground school training. Plus, you’ll log time in the simulator, fly with a dedicated Cirrus flight instructor and eventually achieve solo flight status. Each of these steps are designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to fly safely and confidently.

How Much Will It Cost?
Which Aircraft Will I Fly?
During your training in the Cirrus PPP, you’ll primarily fly the Cirrus SR Series, known for its safety and ease of use. Depending on your training location, you may also get a chance to experience other Cirrus models, allowing you to familiarize yourself with the latest in personal aviation technology.
Simulators
Simulators are an essential part of your training at Cirrus, providing a safe environment to practice key flight skills. We utilize advanced simulators that closely replicate the cockpits of our aircraft, allowing you to get familiar with controls and systems without leaving the ground. We offer two main types: the ALSIM, designed for the SR Series, which helps you build foundational flying skills, and the Vision Jet simulator, tailored for the Vision Jet with advanced systems like the Safe Return™ Autoland.
Both simulators enable you to practice various maneuvers and emergency scenarios, boosting your confidence and reinforcing your learning. They also allow for flexible training schedules, letting you log simulator time that counts toward your flight hours. With the support of your instructor, you can target specific skills, ensuring a comprehensive training experience.
Incorporating simulator training into the Cirrus Personal Pilot Program enhances your overall learning and prepares you for real-world flying.
Who Will Walk Me Through It?
You won’t be alone on this journey! Throughout your training, you’ll be supported by experienced instructors who are passionate about aviation and dedicated to your success. They’ll provide personalized guidance and encouragement, ensuring you feel comfortable and capable at every step.
