Yes, to be the pilot in command, you’ll need a Private Pilot License (PPL), which you can start working on today by finding your nearest Cirrus Authorized Training Center through our Cirrus Locator.
If you prefer to hire a pilot to fly your Cirrus instead, we can connect you with a dedicated Cirrus pilot through Cirrus One, our premium aircraft management program.
Earn your Private Pilot License (PPL) through Cirrus Approach with an 11-module digital program, hands-on training in a Cirrus SR Series, a minimum of 40 flight hours, and successful completion of the FAA Knowledge Test and checkride—all with expert instruction and industry-leading safety features.

The time it takes to earn your Private Pilot License (PPL) depends on several factors, including training frequency, weather conditions and individual progress.
We have estimated the average training duration below:
Full-time training: As little as 3–4 months
Part-time training (weekends/evenings): Typically 6–12 months
The FAA requires at least 40 flight hours, but most students complete their training in 50–70 hours.

Cirrus Approach is our flight training program designed to guide you from your first lesson through advanced skills specifically tailored to Cirrus aircraft. You’ll learn everything from flight fundamentals and airspace rules to real-world decision-making and safety procedures. The program combines expert instruction with interactive tools and video to help you train efficiently and confidently.
The Cirrus Private Pilot Program is designed to teach anyone to learn how to fly an SR Series Cirrus aircraft and earn their pilot’s license. The Private Pilot Program provides an immersive ground school training partnered with a dedicated Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot (CSIP) through a Cirrus Training Center (CTC) to help students complete their Private Pilot License (PPL) in a Cirrus aircraft.
The Private Pilot Program includes 11 modules with 40 engaging lessons that take you through the pre-study material, ground instruction lessons, flight instruction videos, performance assessment and quizzes. Captivating by design, the Private Pilot Program is a highly specialized training program offering specific flight training content to learn to fly a Cirrus aircraft alongside a dedicated CTC and CSIP by leveraging study materials designed and written by Cirrus’ flight training experts.

Anyone can download the Cirrus Approach Private Pilot Program and start learning how to fly with your nearest Cirrus Flight Training Center. However, you do have to be at least 16 years old before you can solo an aircraft and 17 before you can be issued a pilot certificate.
