Aircraft Repainting Policy

REPAINTING YOUR CIRRUS AIRCRAFT

Cirrus Aircraft’s proprietary paint schemes, designs, and colors (collectively “Paint Schemes”) are extremely valuable to Cirrus and are part of what makes Cirrus’s aircraft models so distinctive, recognizable, and beautiful. Cirrus is the exclusive owner of these Paint Schemes, which are protected by U.S. copyright, trade dress and other intellectual property laws. Cirrus’s Paint Schemes cannot be reproduced, modified or used to create any derivatives without the advance written consent of Cirrus Aircraft.

In order to maintain the quality and integrity of the Paint Schemes and ensure the compliance with applicable FAA regulations pertaining to aircraft paint, Cirrus owners must have Paint Schemes repainted or restored only at an Authorized Service Center. If you or anyone other than an Authorized Service Center repaints, restores, or modifies any Paint Schemes on your Cirrus aircraft, your aircraft warranties may be void and Cirrus reserves the right to enforce its intellectual property rights as appropriate.

Policy
Cirrus’s proprietary paint schemes are valuable to Cirrus and are what make Cirrus aircraft distinctive and recognizable (“Paint Schemes”). Cirrus is the exclusive owner of the Paint Schemes and the Cirrus Xi™ custom personalization process, which are protected by U.S. trade dress, copyright and other intellectual property laws.
This Policy, in its entirety, applies to Cirrus Aircraft planes and Cirrus Aircraft Paint Schemes. Reproduction of any Paint Schemes must be in strict compliance with terms of this Policy and all other requirements and specifications that Cirrus may issue to ASCs from time to time. ASCs are expressly prohibited from modifying the Paint Schemes in any manner. If an ASC reproduces any Paint Scheme contrary to the terms of the Policy, Cirrus may terminate its agreement with the ASC and may enforce its intellectual property rights against the ASC.
ASCs are also prohibited from using any Cirrus Aircraft paint color codes or the Cirrus Xi™ custom personalization process for any other Cirrus plane other than the intended Cirrus plane or for any non-Cirrus aircraft.

Procedure
Please contact your Cirrus Regional Field Service Manager with any questions about the approval process for Paint Schemes. Repainted and restored Paint Schemes must be an exact reproduction of the original. If you have any questions about whether a repainted or restored Paint Scheme sufficiently matches the original Paint Scheme, you must request approval from your Cirrus Regional Field Service Management.
