The Icing Awareness course examines all aspects of flight into known icing — from the atmospheric conditions and weather patterns that bolster inflight ice to system components and operation.

The TKS® flight into known icing (FIKI) system extends the capabilities of your Cirrus by merging safety and convenience, enabling you to realize the full utility of your Cirrus — freeing up more altitudes, more routes, and affording you a more reliable schedule. With this added utility also comes an obligation to have a thorough understanding of the atmospheric and aerodynamic principles that shape inflight ice, as well as the TKS® anti-ice system used to defend against it and keep your critical flight surfaces ice-free.
CIRRUS APPROVED TRAINING
Whether flight into forecast or known icing is a regular occurrence, or seasonal affair — keeping the intricacies of inflight icing fresh in your mind is vital. As PIC, you’re required to complete this course within 24 months prior to flying your Cirrus into forecast or known icing conditions. Think of it as your continued commitment to safely, and a great way to renew your sense of confidence when flying into ice.

KNOW ICE
The Icing Awareness course combines the knowledge of the engineers who designed the system with the real-world operating experience of the factory pilots and CSIP community who use it regularly — all packaged into short, bite-sized videos that examine inflight icing from your perspective, the pilot’s perspective.
